ASSM is actively involved in supporting and assisting professionals working in the fields of sport, leisure and recreation. The purpose of the North American Society for Sport Management is to promote, stimulate, and encourage study, research, scholarly writing, and professional development in the area of sport management - both theoretical and applied aspects. Topics of interest to NASSM members include sport marketing, future directions in management, employment perspectives, management competencies, leadership, sport and the law, personnel management, facility management, organizational structures, fund raising, and conflict resolution.
National Sports Marketing Network (NSMN) is the trade organization for the sports business industry in the United States. Founded in 1998 by award-winning entrepreneur Jennifer Karpf, NSMN includes more than 11,000 individual and corporate members with chapters in major markets and members in more than 50 U.S. cities. The national organization is dedicated to the advancement of the sports business industry through networking and the production of thought-provoking, issue-oriented seminars created to raise the level of discourse on critical sports industry issues. In addition to producing must-attend panel discussions, NSMN facilitates customized member-to-member introductions; industry-wide discounts on trade publications; and complimentary job matching. NSMN is Board-governed by sports industry leadership who oversee educational initiatives nationwide. Membership is by application only. Sports business experience is required for membership.
